When I looked back upon every stage of my life, the Lord has always been accompanying me. However, I noticed during a period of time when I was weakest and most distressed, there was only one set of footprints.
“Lord!” I asked, “When I was in great difficulty and despair, how come there was only a set of footprints left? Where were You in those days?”
The Lord whispered to me, “Child, when you were extremely lonely and helpless, it was I who carried you through those days step by step.”
After reading this story, I am much moved. Right! When we are extremely lonely and helpless, it is indeed God who leads us to go through those days step by step. When we are in favorable circumstance, we can see that the Creator is always accompanying us by our side. However, when we encounter setbacks or trials of many kinds, we often think that we are fighting alone and that the Creator has abandoned us and intentionally hidden Himself from us. But we don’t understand what the Creator’s will is behind these things.
It reminds me of Almighty God’s words, “The reason why man blindly thinks that God has intentionally avoided him, that God has intentionally hidden Himself from humanity, that God has no intention of allowing man to understand and know Him, is that he does not know who God is, nor does he wish to understand God; even more so, he is not concerned with the Creator’s thoughts, words or deeds…. Truthfully speaking, if one only uses their idle time to focus upon and understand the Creator’s words or deeds, and pay a little attention to the Creator’s thoughts and the voice of His heart, it will not be difficult for them to realize that the Creator’s thoughts, words and deeds are visible and transparent. Likewise, it will take little effort to realize that the Creator is among man at all times, that He is always in conversation with man and the entirety of creation, and that He is performing new deeds every day. His substance and disposition are expressed in His dialogue with man; His thoughts and ideas are revealed completely in His deeds; He accompanies and observes mankind at all times. He speaks quietly to mankind and all of creation with His silent words: I am above the universe, and I am amongst My creation. I am keeping watch; I am waiting; I am at your side…. His hands are warm and strong; His footsteps are light; His voice is soft and graceful; His form passes and turns, embracing all of mankind; His countenance is beautiful and gentle. He has never left, nor has He vanished. From dawn to dusk, He is mankind’s constant companion.”
This is the Creator’s true attitude and feeling toward creatures. Like human parents treat their children, God accompanies man all the time as their reliance, full of concern and love for man. If we try to feel with our hearts, we will see God’s love for us, and will see God never hides Himself from us, but holds sovereignty over all things and supplies us with everything.
Friends, life can’t always be smooth. When we encounter setbacks and adversities, don’t be perplexed, don’t cry. Almighty God will embrace our arrival any time. He is waiting for us to return to Him.
